Northrop will design, deploy, and handle training support for a new security system for the area, which includes more than 40 official border crossing sites. The system will feature surveillance, communications, video analytics, network and IT components, and data archival capabilities, according to a company release. Northrop will also design four regional command posts to monitor the security situation at each of the sites.

The contract was awarded by US Customs and Border Protection, part of the Department of Homeland Security.
