NORTHERN TELECOM WILL INSTALL BT ACD NETWORK

British Telecommunications Plc has awarded Northern Telecom Ltd a $12m contract to install an Automatic Call Distribution network to support a new customer service programme: it is claimed to be the largest call distribution network in the world based on ISDN and is made up of 47 Meridian 1 PABXes around the country and a DMS-100 public switch serving the heavily populated metropolitan area of Greater London; Northern Telecom also supplied about 5,000 special telephones to support customer service and sales inquiries across the UK; British Telecom expects to be able to answer 90% of all customer service calls and sales inquiries within 15 seconds with the system.
