Having teamed up with Matra SA in France, Northern Telecom Ltd has now found itself a mighty strategic partner in Germany in the shape of the Daimler-Benz Aerospace AG unit of Daimler-Benz AG. The two have signed a memorandum of agreement to form an equally-owned joint venture to exploit market opportunities in Germany and Eastern Europe. The joint venture company will supply telecommunications service providers and corporations in Germany and Eastern Europe with a broad range of service capabilities, systems and products for advanced telecommunications networks, the German partner said. The new company will focus on integrated offerings for public network service providers and corporate enterprise networks, offering network and network management systems, technologies for multimedia applications, local area networks and satellite communications. The venture plans to establish an advanced development centre in Germany.
