QlikView allows NYP to analyze the overall performance of the control room, and to determine how quickly emergency calls are handled. This helps the department to ensure that the emergency services are dispatched to high-priority calls as quickly as possible.

By drilling down from the most general to the most detailed data, the system allows NYP to access previously unavailable information. QlikView analyzes all data relating to the force control room (FCR), such as the number of calls taken, call duration, and how calls are logged.

It also analyses the behavioral patterns of each control room team and individual team member, as well as monitoring fluctuations in the time-to-log calls in relation to day of the week and time of the day, to improve performance. QlikTech says this enables the department to enhance the way in which emergency calls are handled, and maximize the overall efficiency of the control room.

Superintendent Dave Coutts at NYP, said: Efficiency in answering and responding to calls is essential to the effective operation of the police force. It was therefore essential that we find a cost-efficient solution that would speed up the process substantially.
