NORSK DATA MUST ADD SECURITY FOR SWEDES

By CBR Staff Writer

In the final stages of securing the major Unix systems contract for the Swedish defence ministry, Norsk Data A/S suffered a setback when the customer suddenly demanded security features that had not originally been required. According to Norsk the contract has been drawn up so as to make Norsk the sole supplier, and had already been signed before it was frozen. Norsk adds that no other company can bid on the contract at this stage and that the security features needed, such as ruggedising, will cause it no problems, and it is expecting to have the contract signed within the next week or so.
