Nomura Research Institute has begun offering a new service designed for Japanese companies going global and building interfaces between IBM and IBM-compatible hardware and software, and non-IBM equipment: the service was developed in conjunction with Sumitomo Fire & Marine Insurance Co with an interface developed between NEC Corp’s Aladdin advanced office system and an MS-DOS-based local net, using the Nomura international value-added network service to provide the conversion codes between the Japanese system and the Sumitomo Fire & Marine offices in the US; data created using a Japanese accounting system can be converted to run on MS-DOS micros in the US, and the service will be extended to Europe, and will be offered to other companies too.
