What makes this new toolkit special is that it can automatically generate files that control the way the MMS message looks. These files are called SMIL files and can then be manipulated or edited by the content provider. The kit also includes other software that will make MMS easier to develop and deliver.
Nokia introduced the tool to push for greater synergies between valuable media content and mobile handsets, and is hoping for a significant shift away from SMS towards MMS. The company hopes that the toolkit will encourage the transition from old networks to faster and more advanced ones such as CDMA2000 and UMTS.
