Both handsets are 3G compatible and are available with a metal and glass body. Other features include 2.0 QVGA 240×320 pixels screen, OLED display with up to 16 million colors, 3.2 mega pixel auto focus camera with 8x digital zoom, one GB built in memory space, MicroUSB all-in-one-connector, and anti-fingerprint coating. The consumers of Nokia 8800 Arte and Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte can access video and soundtrack composed by Kruder & Dorfmeister with visuals by Fritz Fitzke.
Nokia’s competitor Samsung has also launched Z560 mobile device with 3.5G technology in August 2006, which offers high voice quality and data solutions. The new handset offers High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology and features a 2.0 mega pixel camera, music keys and support of microSD memory card. The Z560 model is capable of providing almost six times faster data sharing speed than 3G UMTS.
Nokia plans to ship its 8800 Arte model handsets starting fourth quarter in 2007. The handsets are expected to be priced at an estimated retail price of E1,000. The 8800 Sapphire Arte will follow in the first quarter of 2008 and will be priced at approximately E1,150. The accessories for the new series include BH-803 Bluetooth headset with noise cancellation and touch sensitive volume adjustment. Each handset comes with a leather pouch with a linen-lining and a separate matching desk stand.
