Nokia has unveiled the Nokia E72, an enhanced version of Nokia E71, at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore.

According to Nokia, the new addition to Nokia’s Eseries family includes all essential elements of its predecessor. It enables users to set up instant messaging (IM) accounts provided by Nokia Messaging direct from the homescreen. The users will be able to connect to their favourite IM accounts such as Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi.

The new mobile also comes with email services with a lifetime license for Nokia’s mobile email and IM service, Nokia Messaging, as well as onboard clients for Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler.

Other notable features include 5 megapixel camera, A-GPS and compass with integrated maps; an optical navigation pad and office capabilities are also updated with a new version of Quickoffice which delivers Microsoft Office 2007 compatibility.

Ilari Nurmi, vice president at Nokia, said: Despite the outstanding market performance of the Nokia E71, we still continually look for ways to enhance the device. So we included the desktop like email experience from the Nokia E75 and gave it a new optical navigation key for more intuitive scrolling through menus, emails and fast panning of images. We also upgraded the camera to 5 megapixels and added a standard 3.5 mm audio jack.

The company also launched two other phones Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, a touch-screen model following the footsteps of its 5800 XpressMusic, and the 3710 fold.

The Nokia E72 and Nokia 5530 XpressMusic are expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2009 and are expected to be priced at €350 and €199, respectively, before taxes and subsidies.

The Nokia 3710 fold is expected to be sold in the fourth quarter of 2009 for an estimated retail price of €140 before taxes and subsidies.
