Helsinki-based Nokia Oy’s Nokia Telecommunications has won a $21m order for the expansion of a cellular telephone network in Thailand: Nokia Telecommunications and the Advanced Info Service Ltd subsidiary of the Shinawatra Computer Co Ltd, signed the contract to expand the coverage of Shinawatra’s NMT 900 cellular network throughout Thailand; earlier, Nokia Telecommunications and Nokia Cables announced an agreement with Kontrax Telekom Rt of Hungary for delivery of optical and copper cable, related optical terminal and multiplexer equipment and a transmission network management system under a $5m deal for the initial phase, to be finished by May 1993; Nokia already has cellular business in Hungary.
