Nokia Siemens Networks is enhancing its NetAct operations support system with transport and IP management capability.
According to the company, the enhancements to NetAct will transform separate network management systems to a harmonized architecture that is expected to help service providers lower operational costs and improve network quality.
The enhancements to NetAct will also enable easy management of applications, such as configuration and point-and-click provisioning, that interact across various transport domains and the whole network including radio and core networks.
Nokia Siemens Networks has said that EMC Smarts will provide the end-to-end visibility of IP networks in multi-vendor environments as a component of NetAct.
Juhani Hintikka, head of operations and business software at Nokia Siemens Networks, said: We are providing the needed efficiency by enhancing our NetAct radio and core network management system with comprehensive IP and end-to-end transport management functionalities. The standards-based, end-to-end transport management of IP/MPLS, carrier ethernet, microwave, optical and access networks improves operational efficiency by enabling data sharing between different systems and processes across a service provider’s whole network.
