BTC Mobility currently uses the TDMA standard, which is similar to GSM but technologically inferior. GSM/GPRS is an obvious upgrade path: BTC is following the example of US TDMA operators such as AT&T Wireless.
The agreement includes core and radio-access network equipment such as switching equipment, base stations, and base station controllers, as well as radio transmission, network management and GPRS packet-data solutions, Nokia told the press.
