Three executives from Nokia Oy’s Mobira unit have resigned to establish Benefon Oy in direct competition with their former employer: according to the Financial Times, the Helsinki company, capitalised at $3.9m and backed by 40 Finnish institutional and private investors, plans to specialise in the design and manufacture of all kinds of telephone terminal equipment, with the range of possible products including home, office and cellular mobile telephones, and radiopagers.
