NOKIA 1Q 89 PRE-TAX PROFITS SLUMPED 32%

By CBR Staff Writer

Nokia Oy reports that pre-tax profit for the first four months of 1989 slumped 32% to the equivalent of $47m – and over half of that was from gains on sale of shares: sales in the period rose 1%, and growth is not likely to increase by much for the rest of the year, Nokia says, while profits will be down on those that it achieved last year.
