Nokia Siemens Networks will invest €15m to build its fifth Global Network Operations Center (GNOC) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which will be operational from January 2011.
The new GNOC will host up to 300 expert technicians, and will be responsible for managing up to 20 million subscribers.
The new centre in Brazil will share the tools, operational model and architecture with four other centres that are already serving more than 190 million subscribers globally – two in India, one in Portugal and one currently being established in Russia.
The company said that the new GNOC in the Americas will serve an increasing base of Latin American operators who seek to outsource network operations.
Nokia Siemens Networks head of global services Ashish Chowdhary said since the company opened their first GNOC in 2007, they have achieved significant scale and experience in successfully managing their customers’ complete networks remotely for better efficiency.
"Latin America and Brazil in particular are growth markets for us and we have established strong partnerships with customers in the continent, becoming the number one managed services provider, managing networks for more than 70 million subscribers in the region," Chowdhary said.
