Nokia Siemens Networks launches new CDMA base station

Flexi Multiradio CDMA Base Station can reduce base station operating costs up to 70%, claims the company

By CBR Staff Writer

Nokia Siemens Networks is planning to launch its Flexi Multiradio CDMA Base Station that helps operators to lower costs as well as allow a smooth migration to LTE.

The new base station offers CDMA operators low total cost of ownership (TCO) and also reduces the power consumption, said the company.

Nokia Siemens Networks tests have shown that new base station can reduce operating costs by up to 70%.

In addition, the compact size of the new base station minimises site space requirements, decreases rental costs and makes it simple to deploy in indoor and outdoor locations, said the company.

Flexi Multiradio Base Station format makes the integration of CDMA into multi-technology sites straightforward. Operators can be assured that their CDMA investments are protected as they transit towards LTE.

The base station provides some of the latest CDMA 1X Advanced (voice) and EV-DO(data) capabilities to meet future demands.

The Flexi Multiradio CDMA Base Station is expected to be available for commercial deployments in the 800MHz and 1900MHz frequency bands by the end of 2012, with additional frequency bands provided.
