NO DECLINE IN MEMORY CHIP ORDERS FROM IBM

Industry sources in Japan are casting doubt on that report that IBM has cancelled orders for Japanese memory chips (CI No 1,043): the report originally appeared on the Dow Jones Professional Investor Report wire service, but an NEC spokesman said that IBM had not cancelled any orders from NEC, and a Fujitsu official said that We have no information to indicate a decline in memory chip orders through our US offices…(although) demand for IBM personal computers has levelled off.
