NO “4391” FROM IBM IN 1989 – OFFICIAL

By CBR Staff Writer

The so-called 4391 expected to be launched by IBM to replace the 4381s will not be introduced before 1990 – and that’s official, if unattributable except to sources within IBM in the US. IBM does intend to continue with an air-cooled line between the 9370s and the 3090s and their successors, and the forthcoming line will offer significant performance overlap with whatever the current low-end models of the water-cooled family offer at the time of its introduction.
