NMW Computers Plc, one of ICL’s biggest customers for mainframes, has launched a disaster recovery operation, Fortress Contingency Services, in South Cheshire, aiming it particularly at organisations in the North of England. It can also connect the service via X25 packet switching links. The centre has security protection and access control, there is a back-up electricity supply, and halon fire protection, and clients who need to move in will be able to use private offices, telephones, telex and facsimile machines, so that if disaster strikes, clients have the choice of moving key people into the centre or working remotely via the X25 network.
