Japanese steelmaker NKK Corp is putting up $5m for a 10% stake in San Jose maker of static random access memory chips Paradigm Technology Inc: the cash also gives NKK a licence to Paradigm’s high-speed 256K and 1M statics and their associated fabrication processes and will help fund co-development of future 4M-bit statics under a seven-year agreement that also gives NKK rights to manufacture the Paradigm-designed statics and co-developed products and market the things in Pacific Bim countries – the latter rights exclusive with the exception that Paradigm retains rights to sell all products worldwide; Paradigm will produce the parts for NKK until early 1993, when NKK will begin its own product manufacturing in a planned 8 fab.
