NIXDORF RAISES THE PERFORMANCE OF ITS IN-STORE SYSSTEMS BY USING NEW VLSI

By CBR Staff Writer

The retail division of Hounslow, Middlesex-based Nixdorf Computer UK Ltd has raised the performance of its 8862 range of in-store systems by 30%, using a new VLSI processor: the single-slot processor, called the XP10, is a proprietary chip which has a 2Mb or 4Mb memory, and increases the level of processor performance by a factor of 1.3 with a memory cycle of 300nS; the XP10 replaces previous four-board NR22 processors, and goes into all new Nixdorf 8862-based retail systems.
