NIXDORF HAS BIG ORDER FROM TESCO PLC

By CBR Staff Writer

Nixdorf Computer looks as if it has really got it made in the UK market after landing the in-store installation for Tesco Plc’s massive supermarket automation point-of-sale terminals project: the Paderborner is to supply 8812/600 bar-code scanner point-of sale terminals and 8862 Model 4 in-store controllers, for 180 of Tesco’s 370 stores under the UKP50mplus contract, with completion set for 1990; the systems will batch up data daily to send to the chain’s IBM mainframe.
