NIPPON TELEGRAPH & TELEPHONE TO SPEARHEAD JAPAN’s PITCH AT TELECOM ’87

By CBR Staff Writer

Taking place only once every four years gives the Telecom show in Geneva, Switzerland an unusual stature, and Japan Inc will be out in force this October, led by newly privatised Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp, with 14 other Japanese makers. Key feature of the Japanese exhibit will be demonstration of Integrated Services Digital Networking. The companies joining with NTT include NEC, Toshiba, Ricoh, Canon, Oki Electric, Mitsubishi Electric, Anritsu, Tamra Electrics, Fujitsu, Matsushita Electric and Matsushita Communications, and Hitachi. The companies will show their Group IV fax machines, micros, digital telephones and so forth connected to NTT’s D70T digital exchange D70T: NTT plans to start an ISDN service next spring, and all the companies are anxious to prove that all their appropriate equipment can be used on the service.
