Nippon Steel Corp, which has relationships with Sun Microsystems and Concurrent Computer Corp, and was an investor in Supertek, which is now part of Cray Research Inc, is very serious indeed about its diversification into computers and has established NS Computer Systems Inc in Santa Ana, California, capitalised at $600,000, to investigate the prospects for manufacture and marketing of MS-DOS personal computers in the US – perhaps before it enters the Japanese personal computer market. But the company denied a press report that it planned to start making notebook personal computers for the US market this year.
