Nippon Kokan KK and its information service subsidiary, NK-EXA, have joined forces with Matsushita Graphic Communication Systems Inc and IBM Japan to develop Fine-S, describing it as the first fully integrated office automation system to allow the simultaneous use of on-line systems and opto-electronic filing systems on the same network: the system works by combining image processing adaptor cards and software and an optical disk local area network software with a terminal that combines word processing, personal computing and on-line functions; NKK plans to market the system in the autumn, after proving it in an initial installation at its Fukuyama Works operation.
