NIPPON HOOSOO KYOKU COMMISSIONS NEC TO DEVELOP MAINFRAME-BASED SYSTEM FOR NEWS DEPARTMENT

By CBR Staff Writer

Nippon Hoosoo Kyoku, NHK, Japan’s answer to the Beeb, has commissioned NEC Corp for joint development of a mainframe-based office automation system for its news department: it wants a paperless environment for management of sources, information and news, with micros for the editors, special workstations for preparation of news scripts, and portable word processors for the reporters; all the equipment to be developed and supplied by NEC.
