Under the agreement in principle between Japanese phone service services giant Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp and Microsoft Corp, the two companies aim to develop services to enable users to access multimedia information on a communications network: the two companies are already working on a project to provide compatibility between the Microsoft at Work operating system and F-Net, Nippon Telegraph & Telephone’s enhanced facsimile network service, so that Microsoft at Work products can seamlessly access F-Net services such as multiple address and store-and-forward services; another plan sees the working together on a software licensing system under which users will obtain software by downloading from a CD-ROM over the network.
