Niku Corp, the developer of business portals for the professional services automation market, says it has completed a $20m second round of funding led by venture capital firms JH Whitney and Venrock Associates. Comdisco Ventures, Hambrecht & Quist’s Access Technology Partners, The Phoenix Partners and Trust Company of the West also contributed to the round.

Redwood City, California-based Niku claims to be the first company to deliver a comprehensive enterprise portal for large and medium-size services organizations such as IT consulting firms and internal IT departments at corporations. It also offers iNiku.com, an Internet portal that allows independent consultants to run their business on the web. Niku is led by chairman and chief executive Farzad Dibachi, who also founded internet appliance software house Diba Inc, which he sold to Sun Microsystems Inc in 1997.
