Nikon Inc has announced its new Coolpix 900 digital camera. It has a 1.3 million pixel charge coupled device (1280 x 960 resolution), and provides JPEG images, for prints up to 8 by 10 inches. Other features include and a Nikkor lens. Images are stored on compact flash cards in a 1:4 (Fine), 1:8 (Normal) or 1:16 (Basic) compression ratio. The camera ships with a 4Mb compact flash card, which can hold 6 Fine, 12 Normal or 24 Basic images. It comes with Nikon View 900, an image acquisition software that is an extension to Microsoft Windows Explorer. Also included are Adobe Photo Deluxe 2.0, for image manipulation, InMedia Slides and Sound for creating multimedia presentations and Enroute QuickStitch for panorama stitching. The camera will ship in mid-May for $900.
