Value-added network operator NI+C International Inc has received approval from the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications to begin network services between Japan and the UK in conjunction with Mercury Communications Ltd: NI+C International is a subsidiary of NI+C, a 50-50 joint venture between Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp and IBM Japan; the company hopes to feed the UK link on into other Asian countries; NI+C also has arrangements with British Telecommunications Plc and started services last month, but wishes to provide service for all its customers; in the US it has links with MCI International Inc.
