NHS Cancer Registry testing data integration system

The NHS Cancer Registry, the body which monitors the treatment history of cancer patients, is looking to improve its records as it begins trials of a data integration system, according to an article on ComputerWeekly.com.

By CBR Staff Writer

Using tools from US-based Intersystems, two regional registries, Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Registry and Thames Cancer Registry, have already begun trials.

The products the two regional registries are currently testing constitute Intersystem’s Ensemble tools. This includes an integration server, an application server, an object database and a unified development and management environment incorporated into a single package solution for integrating data.

According to Computer Weekly, the integration system will be used to take data feeds from several sources and automatically link them to regional registries and the NHS centralized registry.

Implementation of a data integration system would relieve the tedium of manually updating records, saving time and labor, and provide a more reliable system that can be updated and shared much more efficiently.
