The National Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Society has outsourced a part of its application testing functions, including functional testing, test automation and test consulting, to IT services company MindTree.
Founded in 1909 to provide insurance services to farmers, NFU Mutual now claims to have 73,000 general insurance customers in both farming and non-farming communities.
NFU Mutual plans to roll out a new underwriting and policy administration system to support its business. The society has selected MindTree to share the additional testing responsibilities arising out of the implementation of the new systems.
Debbie Baird, IT business process manager at NFU Mutual, said: By engaging MindTree, NFU Mutual has not only managed to fulfill our medium term capacity needs, but has also managed to realise significant cost savings.
MindTree will offer its testing services to NFU Mutual through its Insurance Practice arm. Insurance Practice delivers product configuration, distribution management and underwriting, servicing and analytics to the insurance industry.
In September, MindTree has established a Testing Centre of Excellence (CoE) in partnership with Hewlett Packard. The CoE imparts training to test engineers on HP’s quality and performance testing tools. It is expected to enable MindTree develop new testing frameworks and enhance its capabilities in offering proof of concepts to customers.
