Google is intending to launch an 8-inch Nexus tablet in mid-2014, according to sources speaking to Digitimes.
The second generation of Google’s Nexus 7, manufactured by Asus, has had sales impacted by competitor 7-inch tablets on the market which offer similar performance.
The sources also pointed out to Digitimes that the Nexus 8 may adopt Intel’s Bay Trail-T platform instead of Qualcomm’s chip which is in the current models.
The sources added that more details are likely to follow in February, suggesting a MWC unveiling is not on the way.
The Nexus 7 2013 has faced stern competition from the likes of Tesco’s Hudl and Argos’s MyTablet, which took the tablet market in the UK by storm last year, with both tablets selling out in the crucial Christmas shopping period.
