NEXT “THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS” ALBUM ON MP3 VIA GOODNOISE

By CBR Staff Writer

In a significant coup for the grassroots internet audio format, quirky band They Might Be Giants (TMBG) has signed MP3 pioneer GoodNoise Corp as its distributor. From Thursday February 18, five TMBG albums and 100 tracks were available for purchase from GoodNoise.com or from the band’s own site at TMBG.com. It doesn’t stop there. In the next few months, GoodNoise and the band plan to release 15 new tracks. The popular band’s support for MP3 is a smack in the face for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which launched its own rival Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI) after efforts to suppress Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc’s Rio PMP300 portable player failed.
