NEXT FEE DETERS POTENTIAL DEVELOPERS FROM EXPERIMENTING

NeXT Software Inc had a policy of charging developers a $2,500 fee or more if they wanted to take a look at NeXTstep or OpenStep with a view to writing for them. And according to the San Jose Mercury News, now Apple has bought NeXT, the policy is still in place, so many developers are deterred from experimenting with OpenStep to get a head start on Rhapsody.
