IMDEA Networks has launched BRAin inspired Data Engineering (BRADE-CM), which will undertake research to develop brain-inspired intelligent ICT architectures.

The project is aimed at developing next-gen computation and information processing systems for significant datasets, based on thebrain’s capability to process information, learn, make decisions and deal with large massive information.

With the advent of Big Data and the need to boost computing and networking power to deal with the mass of information, neuroscientists have been developing ICT systems based on the operating principles of the brain.

Backed by the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of the Regional Government of Madrid, BRADE-CM began in October 2014 and will end by September 2018.

The project involves participation of IMDEA Networks Institute’s BDA group, the NETCOM Group from University Carlos III of Madrid, the NEUROCOM group from the Complutense University of Madrid and the BiiG group from the Foundation for Biomedical Research of the Gregorio Marañón Hospital.
