NexGen Microsystems Inc, Milpitas, California has increased its reseller base by 87% since November and now has a total of 71 OEM customers using its Nx586 processors in their personal computers. NexGen says resellers are opting for its Nx586 family in place of Intel Corp’s Pentium chip because it gives the same performance levels as a Pentium chip but costs less. Resellers can therefore afford to push out Pentium level performance personal computers using Nx586 for $1,500 to $2,000. US resellers now include Liuski International, a New-York based firm that will act as a value-added reseller, and Fry’s Electronics, San Jose, California, an electronics superstore chain. It has also established resellers in Canada, Hungary and South Africa with the addition of JITEC Corp, Computer Parts and Stamford Computers respectively. In Germany new resellers include Kobi Computer and Nettwork Computer both based in Kiel. Other US based OEM customers included A2 Industries, Computer Parts Plus, System Design Computers and US Microtech, all based in California and resellers in New Jersey, Texas, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Colorado and Florida.
