Apple Computer Inc said on Monday that NewtonMail will be available in various commercial releases over the next 60 days to users of the Newton MessagePad communications assistants: an expanded test pilot began yesterday and will be followed immediately by a limited commercial release to some US Newton users; NewtonMail will enable Newton users to exchange test messages with other Newton users and with others of CompuServe, America OnLine, MCI Mail, AppleLink, SprintMail, EasyLink and other on-line services via the Internet; the company will also begin to ship the Newton Connection kit for Microsoft Corp Windows 1.00 at $165 in the US next week – this is being offered in conjunction with Traveling Software Inc and enables users to exchange data between a Newton and Windows-based personal computers; the new Newton Fax Modem card is also just released and costs $220.
