NEWS IN BRIEF: YEAR 2000 COSTS

The US Office of Management & Budget has come up with a cost of $2.3bn for the US Federal government to make all its computer systems Year 2000-compliant. Those hoping to make a fortune out of it – so-called outside experts – put forward a figure of $30bn.
