NEWS IN BRIEF: THE OBJECT GROUP

By CBR Staff Writer

Technically the Object Group and its two constituent parts, X/Open and the Open Software Foundation, still each have their own boards – even though the Object Group’s and OSF’s are the same people. This situation is supposed to change this year with only the Object Group board surviving. The Object Group’s chair will also be up for grabs come Uniforum in March but there are currently no contenders for the slot so it’s likely NCR Corp’s Dennis Roberson will be held over for another term. Meanwhile, outgoing Open Group president and chief executive Jim Bell, a Hewlett-Packard Co loaner held over for longer than originally anticipated, has finally gone back to Hewlett-Packard and incumbent Joe De Feo, ex of Barclays Group Plc, has moved over from England.
