Software sales in China were worth $1.1bn in 1996, up 32% on 1995, China Daily reported. Imported software accounted for around 57% of last year’s sales, with most operating systems and database software coming from abroad, the newspaper quoted the Center of Computer & Microelectronics Industry Development Research.
