The technical alliance between Intel Corp and Standard Microsystems Corp that accompanies Intel’s buying an immediate 10% with rights to go to 20% of Standard Micro (CI No 3,125) involves the two working together on integration of new input- output chips designed to work with Intel’s latest microprocessors and core logic chip sets, into Intel personal computer motherboard designs through the end of 1997. The two companies also agreed to co-operate on a family of proprietary low-pin- count input-output devices for future applications.
