NEWS IN BRIEF: “HUMANS TAKE 20 YEARS TO BOOT”

Microsoft Corp’s chief technology officer Nathan Myhrvold says he expects computers to outsmart humans by some measures in the next 20 to 30 years. He said that despite the time it takes to boot a computer, it is already faster than educating people. Humans take 20 years to boot, he said in his keynote to the Association of Computing Machinery’s 50th anniversary conference.
