Hitachi Ltd will build a $120m silicon wafer processing plant in Ibaraki prefecture: the new plant will produce 8 epitaxial wafers at a rate of 100,000 a month by 1999.

IBM Corp will stop producing 4M-bit memory chips at Yasu, Japan by year-end: production will move primarily to the company’s Burlington, Vermont facility, the company said.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Insignia Solutions Plc after its flotation on Nasdaq alleging the company and some of its officials misrepresented its business, sales force, new software products, earnings growth and financial statements and ability to continue to grow profitably.
