Makes a change – British Telecommunications Plc is creating more than 1,000 new jobs by opening a tele-marketing centre up in Warrington. L M Ericsson Telefon AB, Stockholm, won a contract for the expansion of the analogue mobile telephone network in Shanghai, China, worth $36.5m. It says it also signed an agreement worth $1.4m for the supply of analogue cellular roaming equipment to Guangzhou and Peking.
Nokia Oy will deliver a Groupe Speciale Mobile network to Polish operator Polkomtel SA. The value of deliveries scheduled to the end of 1997 is estimated at about $130m.
