Lucasfilm Ltd has chosen Avid Technology Inc as a primary partner in the post-production for George Lucas’s Star Wars prequel trilogy. Details of how Avid’s technology will be used were not available, but the company said that Lucasfilm will use its Film Composer, AudioVision, Pro Tools, Matador, Media Share, Media Server and Asynchronous Transfer Mode networking products for the completely digital post production process that Lucasfilm will use. For the past year Avid and Lucasfilm have been collaborating on certain components of the digital studio through the post- production of the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, a television series Lucasfilm used as a test-bed for the new technology.
