Mark Booth, the TV executive chosen to head News Corporation’s $300m internet fund, reportedly turned down a $25m ‘golden hello’ when he rejected a top multimedia jobs from Microsoft Corp, according to reports in the UK press. Given the huge package Microsoft used to tempt the managing director of British Sky Broadcasting to move to Redmond, News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch is understood to have offered an even bigger incentive. It will give Booth a share of any increase in value of the new investment fund. Booth will be in charge of News Corp’s global internet operations as well as masterminding the company’s investment in internet companies, interactive TV and wireless communications.
