It makes great sense for us to license our indices as we have an independent stance on index construction and a vast database of pricing, fundamental data, analytic functions and industry classification system, said Lou Eccleston, global head of transaction and data services ina company statement.

Currently, Bloomberg has already launched one tradeable index, the Bloomberg European New Market Index (BENMAX50), a modified capitalization-weighted index that tracks 50 mid-cap growth oriented companies in Europe. Bloomberg will shortly release four additional European tradeable indices.

This new business will be aimed at fund managers, fund administrators, derivative houses, and stock exchanges, added Kevin Swann, manager of Bloomberg Index License.
