Another US-Japan trade row has blown up, this time over floppy disk media: Eastman Kodak Co, parent of Verbatim Corp, has asked the US International Trade Commission to investigate its allegation that Sony Corp, Hitachi-Maxell and Fuji Photo Film Co are dumping floppies in the US; at issue are 3.5 disks and Kodak wants punitive tariffs, alleging that the companies charge 40% to 60% less for disks in the US than they do back home in Japan.
