NEW UK GOVERNMENT PLANS TO AUCTION RADIO SPECTRUM

By CBR Staff Writer

The new UK Labor government plans to increase tax on Mobile phone users. Its new Wireless Telegraphy (Spectrum Pricing) Bill is estimated to add the cost of using a mobile phone by around 10 pence a week. The government hopes that the tax will raise 1bn pounds. The value of the radio spectrum will be established by auctioning parts of the spectrum as they come available.
